Need electrical work in your home

If you are having any electrical work carried out in your home you need to know what ‘Part P’ is and what it means to you.

New regulations came into force in January 2005 relating to electrical work carried out in the home. Most electrical work in the home can now only be carried out by an electrician or tradesman who is a member of an authorised Part P Competent Person scheme. If anyone else carries out the work, including the householder the finished job must be inspected by the the local authority Building Control department.
